Tequila Cocina ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website or interact with us, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written to align with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

1. Who we are

Tequila Cocina is a restaurant located at 1224 Granville Street, Vancouver, British Columbia. Our privacy contact is the General Manager. You can reach us at manager@tequilacocina.ca or (604) 558-3443.

2. What we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us. That usually falls into four buckets:

• Reservation requests. Name, phone number, email, party size, date and time, and any notes (allergies, occasion, seating preference) you send through our booking form.
• Pasaporte 2026 sign-ups. Name, phone number, email, and optional Instagram handle, plus your stamp history on your digital card.
• Catering enquiries. Name, contact info, event date, headcount, and the details you write in the message field.
• Chat with Rosa. The messages you type into the on-site chat, along with the timestamp.

Our website does not use third-party advertising trackers. We do collect basic technical information that any website receives automatically (IP address, browser type, pages viewed) through our hosting provider's server logs, used only for security and troubleshooting.

3. Why we use it

• To confirm and manage your reservation, catering enquiry, or event request.
• To run the Pasaporte 2026 contest, track your stamps, and notify you about watch parties and the final draw.
• To respond to your messages, including those sent through the on-site chat.
• To improve the website and prevent abuse (technical logs only).

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not use it for marketing outside the Pasaporte programme without your explicit consent.

4. Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with a small number of service providers who help us run the site and the business:

• Formspree — receives the contents of our website forms and sends them to us by email. Formspree may store the submission in its servers (located in the United States) per its own privacy policy.
• Google Maps — the embedded map on our pages loads from Google's servers, which may set their own cookies. We have no control over these.
• Hosting provider — stores the website itself and may keep short-lived server logs.
• Law enforcement or regulators — only if compelled by valid Canadian legal process.

Because some providers are based outside Canada, your information may be processed in other jurisdictions, including the United States, and could be subject to the laws of those countries.

5. Cookies

Our own site uses a small number of first-party cookies for essential functions, such as remembering that you have already opened the chat or dismissed a notice. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies on our own domain. Embedded third-party content (Google Maps, social media embeds where applicable) may set their own cookies under their own terms.

6. How long we keep your information

• Reservation and catering enquiries: up to 24 months after your last visit.
• Pasaporte 2026 entries: until 30 days after the final draw, after which the records are deleted unless you have opted in to future marketing.
• Chat conversations: up to 90 days for support and quality purposes, then deleted.
• Server logs: typically 30 days.

7. Your rights

Under PIPEDA and BC PIPA you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.
• Ask us to delete your information (subject to record-keeping obligations).
• Withdraw your consent to marketing at any time.
• File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the BC Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner.

8. Children

Our website and the Pasaporte programme are intended for adults aged 19 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

Our site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions travel encrypted to our service providers. We limit access to personal information to staff who need it. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will always reflect the most recent version. Material changes will be announced on our home page for at least 30 days.
